sport-1283791_1280 Crossfit is truly revolutionizing what it means to be fit. Men and women alike are focusing less on the “glamour” muscles and instead working on creating true strength. It’s a fascinating realm of the fitness world, and may feel daunting, even for those interested in learning what crossfit is all about. If you’re seriously looking to start a crossfit regimen, there are a few tips and pieces of advice that you should keep in mind, as a beginner in the community.

There’s No (Very) Special Gear Necessary - But there are things that are nice to have.

Unlike other niche fitness programs, Crossfit does not require any special clothing or gear. The beauty of the Crossfit practice is that you’re encouraged to be as comfortable as possible. Any workout clothing that you’re already comfortable in will work perfectly. However, there are some things that you should think about investing in, in order to have the most effective and enjoyable crossfit experience:
  • Minimalist Sneakers. There are some made specifically for crossfit, like these Reeboks.

  • Wrist Wraps. Many crossfit workouts involve intense movements of the wrist. It’s important to keep your wrists stabilized for continued safety.

  • A high quality jump rope. Contrary to popular belief, not all jump ropes are the same. Use this guide to help you find the right jump rope for you.

Your Nutrition is Just As Important as Your Workout

Many people hop into Crossfit expecting the workouts alone to be completely transformative. But, it’s not just about the workouts. Those new to Crossfit need to understand exactly how important nutrition is to excelling at the workouts of the day. The food that you ingest will have a direct effect on the energy that you have during your sessions, and your ability to recover post-workout. Not only that, but the food you consume also plays a part in your muscle development and overall tone. If you’re investing in Crossfit, make an effort to invest in your nutrition as well.   There are innumerable sites and resources for you to get proper crossfit nutrition, but this is a great site to get you started:  Crossfit Impulse
