I am a major golf enthusiast and currently carry an 8 handicap. I play as much as can and try to play on different courses as well. For the love of the game and the honor that is due to these amazing courses, I have compiled a list of the top 10 best golf courses in America.

Located in Augusta, Georgia and featuring 18 holes at this private course, Augusta National is the home of The Master's golf tournament. Constructed in 1933 by Alister MacKenzie and Robert Trent Jones Jr. Augusta National's par score is situated at 72.

2. Pine Valley Golf Course

Pine Valley Golf Course is located in Clementon , New Jersey. It was constructed in 1918 and features 18 private and professionally groomed holes with a par of 70. There is a driving range a fully equipped pro shop to handle any golfer’s new club requirements.

3. Shinnecock Hills Golf CourseShinnecock Hills Golf Club

Located in South Hampton, New York, this par 70 golf course ranks in at number 3 on Americas best golf courses. This is another private club, but beautiful nonetheless to look at. Shinnecock Hills is also another par 70 that has a staggering 20 tee stations.

4. Oakmont Country Club

Oakmont C.C. has nothing but positive reviews from the pros and members. Oakmont is situated in Oakmont, Pennsylvania and has a 1,600 square foot pro shop. The course can be credited to architects, Henry Clay Fownes, William Fownes, and Tom Fazio.

5. Cypress Point ClubCypress Point Club

Located in Pebble Beach California, the Cypress Point Club is a members only, private course. Overlooking the ocean, this par 72 is the top most private golf club in California.

6. Pebble Beach Golf Links

Another course located in Pebble Beach, California, this particular course is technically categorized as a resort and is open to the public. It sits coastal and overlooks the beautiful Pacific Ocean. Though this is an amazing course to play on, it will cost you quite a bit to play.

7. Merion Golf Course (East)Merion Golf Course (East)

Developed in 1912 in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, Merion Golf Course (East) sits this private 18 hole course. The architects credited with this sprawling course are Hugh Wilson, William S. Flynn, Perry Maxwell, and Tom Fazio.

8. Winged Foot Golf Course (West)

Winged Foot Golf Course (West) is a Par 72 that was developed in 1923. It is the second course on the list situated in South Hampton, New York and has featured some of the most noteworthy U.S. Open events

9. Sand Hills Golf Course

Slightly off the beaten path lies Sand Hills golf Club. Located in Mullen Nebraska, Sand Hills is a par 71 that is privately held as a members only club. This club is extremely isolated with many natural pieces of the golf course untouched by the course’s architects.

10. National Golf Links of AmericaNational Golf Links of America

The last golf course on the list and the third located in South Hampton, New York, is National Golf Links of America. The course was founded in 1908 and it widely regarded as the third best in the entire state. Sadly it is also a private institution. The course covers a staggering 285 acres is located on Peconic Bay.
